Single Wall Spiral W/Gasketed Fittings
All spiral duct (all gauges and diameters) shall be manufactured with a spiral seam.
Steel fittings from 24 gauge to 20 gauge:
Steel fittings from 18 gauge to 16 gauge:
Longitudinal seams to be fully welded and sealed.
Transverse seams to be tack welded and sealed.
- Transverse seams to be fabricated using Gorelock technology.
- Longitudinal seams to be stitch welded for strength and durability.
Single Wall Spiral W/ Non-Gasketed Fittings
General Pipe Construction: All gauge and diameter pipe: Must be spiral seam.
Steel Fittings:
24 to 20 Gauge:
- Transverse seam: Must be Gorelock.
- Longitudinal seam: Must be stitch welded.
18 to 16 Gauge:
- Longitudinal seam: Must be fully welded and sealed.
- Transverse seam: Must be tack welded and sealed.
Aluminum Fittings:
50” and Smaller:
- Transverse seam: Must be Gorelock.
- Longitudinal seam: Must be button lock.
(Note: There’s a repeated line saying “tack welded and sealed longitudinal seam” — possibly redundant or indicating an alternative method.)
52” and Larger:
- Transverse seam: Must be button lock.

Duct Pipe:
- All gauges and diameters of pipe shall be fabricated with a spiral seam.
